 Ammon Veterinary Hospital News

Ammon Veterinary Hospital would like to inform all clients that we will now be requiring ALL boarding and grooming dogs to have a Bordatella vaccine 2 weeks prior to any boarding or grooming services, for the safety of your pet. Additionally, we recommend that high-risk patients recieve the Canine Influenza Virus (CIV) vaccine.

Due to the large number of recent phone calls we have received concerning Canine Influenza or Dog Flu we would like to provide additional information. The canine cough outbreak, that has been incorrectly referred to as Dog Flu in a recent Post Register advertisement, started in December of 2014. More cases of cough have been seen by local veterinarians over the past 14 months than what most veterinarians have seen in a career. However, the most current information gathered by Cornell University from regional and national laboratories, showed that from March of 2015 to February of 2016, over 80 tests have been performed on dogs in Idaho with cough symptoms and only 1 positive case of Canine Influenza has been confirmed. We do not believe there is a dog flu storm. Is canine cough going around, yes. The canine cough or kennel cough syndrome is more correctly referred to as Canine Infectious Respiratory Disease and has more than a dozen causes.  Some preventable and some not preventable. There is no one single agent that causes all canine cough. Therefore, please consult with your regular veterinarian to help you decide what is the best medicine for your best friend.

We have been taking our fur babies to Ammon Veterinary since they opened. Dr. Burr and his staff are simply the best. The care our pets receive is outstanding and when we board our dog there we have complete confidence in the staff.

Courteous and knowledgeable staff. Easy to work with. Most of all...very kind to my pet which is  extremely important to me. Felt like she would be properly cared for after I left her there.
